In Tuesday檚 second class, students pored over the writings of select pre-Socratic philosophers, making for a difficult but rewarding discussion. When they finished, various activities lay open to their choosing. Several made their way to the campus athletic fields for intense games of soccer, basketball, or volleyball. Others headed for the ponds for a swim or took a short hike off campus, trekking uphill to the 淧ainter檚 Shack to enjoy a marvelous bird檚-eye view of campus and the surrounding valleys.
After burning off all that energy, the group devoured an appetizing Mexican dinner in St. Joseph檚 Commons before heading over to St. Bernardine of Siena Library for an evening study period. The library once again remained very calm as students focused on the first half of the Book of Genesis, which will be the subject of both today檚 morning and afternoon classes.
A large number of students then filled Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity Chapel for the recitation of the Holy Rosary, and then it was back to the residence halls for a number of activities. Both St. Monica檚 and Sts. Peter and Paul檚 first witnessed intense games of indoor dodgeball, where the different wings of each hall competed fiercely against one another.
Afterward, many gathered around roaring bonfires in the dorm courtyards to enjoy s檓ores as well as piping hot quesadillas whipped up by some of the prefects. Suddenly, pi帽atas appeared, and students eagerly pounded them open only to reveal a large stash of carrots and celery! Just some backup in case they didn檛 eat their vegetables at dinner!
Thankfully, there was then another round of pi帽atas, this time full of candy. After praying consecration, students eventually made their way to bed for some much needed rest. Check the SummerBlog this afternoon to read about their first class on Sacred Scripture!
