Head prefects for New England

Having introduced the head prefects for California檚 High School Summer Programs, the Summer Blog now turns to their East Coast counterparts, who will lead the New England programs from June 23-July 1 and July 12-25 in Northfield, Massachusetts.

Matthew Bohrer (NE26)

淚檝e gone from attending the Summer Program as a high school student, to being a prefect for three years, to now serving as head prefect in my final year at TAC, says Matthew Bohrer (NE26). 淭his is a full circle moment for me.

Matthew discovered the College when New England Admissions Director John Jost visited his high school. Intrigued by Mr. Jost檚 pitch for the High School Summer Programs, he attended and knew immediately where he wanted to spend the next four years. 淭he Summer Program is such a good time, and it檚 a great place to meet people, he says. 淭AC is proof that you can have an amazing education, spiritual life, and social life all at the same time. You don檛 have to sacrifice any one to have a great experience here.

Following his last stint as prefect, Matthew will be working for the water maintenance department in Geneva, New York, then entering a police academy. Before then, he檚 excited for one final summer at 91快活林 Aquinas College. 淚 hope to make a difference in these high schoolers lives and share all four years of my experience with them.

Daniela Van Wyk (NE26)

Coming all the way from California, recent graduate Daniela Van Wyk (NE26) couldn檛 be more excited to serve as women檚 head prefect for both 2026 New England High School Summer Programs. 淚 wasn檛 planning on attending such a small school, she recalls. 淏ut the community and faith life here drew me in like nowhere else I had been.

Having attended a Summer Program herself, Dani is looking forward to introducing attendees to the College檚 brand of Catholic liberal education. 淚 went to the Summer Program and had a blast, she says. 淗owever, it was the curriculum that won me over. Reading these books and asking questions has been some of the most fulfilling work I檝e ever done.

Dani firmly believes that a High School Summer Programs is a life-changing experience. 淚t completely realigned my priorities in terms of my life and career goals, she says. In her free time, she can be found playing Spikeball or volleyball, or exploring the nearby small towns. 淚 want to help the high schoolers get even a taste of what this education is like, she says. 淏ecause once you檝e tasted it, you檒l naturally desire it.
