Students woke up refreshed and refreshed this morning after last night™s fun, ready for their first Saturday on campus. Following a quick breakfast, a large group gathered at the flagpole outside St. Joseph Commons for a hike. The weather couldn™t have been better, and the students enjoyed a cool breeze and sunny skies as they trekked about a mile away to take in a bird™s eye view of campus as well as stunning vistas of the Santa Clara Valley.

At the top of the peak was a makeshift altar, and program chaplain Rev. Sebastian Walshe, O.Praem, (™94), offered Holy Mass. Father spoke movingly in his homily about the Israelites wandering in the Egyptian wilderness, as well as the importance of placing one™s trust in God in the midst of persecution and exile. 

The return trip took about half an hour, and everyone was soon devouring a delicious lunch of ham sandwiches and potato chips. At this moment, there is a fierce volleyball tournament under way, with prefects leading several teams of students. Check back tomorrow for photos, results, and much more!
