The California campus™s student theater group, the St. Genesius Players, charmed its audience with a flowery production of Jane Austen™s Emma, adapted for the stage and directed by sophomore Madeleine Brittain (™28), on the evening of Alumni and Parent Day 2025. The performance, which took place in the Fritz B. Burns Auditorium, transported onlookers to a nineteenth century English countryside, rampant with romance.

The story follows Emma Woodhouse, a rich and intelligent young woman ” here played by Theresia Kuebler (™28) ” who has discovered a love and skill for matchmaking. In the name of this supposed dexterity, Emma inserts herself into the romantic affairs of her dear friend, Harriet Smith, played by Elaine Grimm (™28), which results in a series of several comedic setbacks. Eventually, Emma realizes her own love for a lifelong friend, Mr. Knightley, played by Dominic Monnereau (™28), and, in a revelatory turn of events, is forced to face her own stubbornness and pride.

The players won the hearts of their audience with their vibrant characters and clever banter in a fantastic display of the cast and crew's talent and dedication.
