Held each semester during Don Rags, Open Mic Night offers a chance for students to show off their performance skills to their classmates and friends, whether it be singing, playing an instrument or standup comedy. Many students prepare acts all semester to polish and perfect them before auditioning and performing.
With so many students from varied backgrounds, Open Mic Night is always packed with entertaining acts. Freshman Michael Griffin (28) opened with a soulful rendition of Gregory Alan Izakov檚 Big Black Car, accompanying himself on guitar as he sang. Brendan Seeley (27) followed with an excitingly theatrical recitation of 淐asey at the Bat by Ernest Thayer. Other acts included a hilarious skit by the men of St. Augustine Hall, an original poem by Thaddeus Gotcher (25) and Bach Suite I on the cello performed by Donovan Carlson (28). 淚t was really a top-notch show, said Sebastiano Egan (27). 淓veryone enjoyed it.
