œThis is not a formal concert, but music-making among friends ” by friends, for friends, said Tutor Dr. Joseph Zepeda, describing both the tradition of living-room concerts inaugurated by composer Franz Schubert and the semiannual tradition at 91¿ì»îÁÖ Aquinas College that bears the composer™s name. Sunday™s performance in California™s St. Cecilia Hall may not have been a formal concert, but it was no less impressive, with senior Dillon Tuliau remarking that this was œone of the College™s best Schubertiades.

Every class was represented onstage, as well as many styles, eras, and instruments. The audience enjoyed Bach played on violin and piano, some Spanish guitar, and even a saxophone-piano duet. Dr. Zepeda emceed the event, introducing each piece with comments about its history and offering musical insights. On a few occasions, he even took to the stage himself to accompany the performers.
