Nearly eight years since she joined the in Summit, New Jersey, Sr. Maria Johanna Barrett (™14), O.P., made her Solemn Profession on August 6, the Feast of the Transfiguration.

Sr. Maria Johanna™s journey to the Dominicans began when she stumbled upon the book One Mind and Heart in God: Dominican Monastic Life as a senior at 91Ώμ»ξΑΦ Aquinas College. œIt was kind of amazing, she later recalled. œIt was exactly what I wanted. In her eight years of discernment, she has fallen steadily more in love with the monastic life and her monastery™s of œhidden apostolic fruitfulness. She is overjoyed at last to pledge her life totally to Christ.

Present at the Mass were Sr. Maria Johanna™s parents and all nine of her siblings, including alumni Philip (™07) and Marguerite (™22), as well as several alumni friends. œIt was a lovely ceremony, reports Andrea McCann (™13). œOne could see the joy on Sister™s face!
