Graduate Chants Role of Christ in Papal Good Friday Liturgy
A blessed trend in recent years is that alumni deacons ” who, while studying in Rome in preparation for their priestly ordinations ” have been asked to chant the Gospel at various papal liturgies. The latest graduate to be so honored is Frater Miguel (Gaspar™08) Batres, O.Praem. On Good Friday, Frater Miguel proclaimed the words of Christ during the papal Celebration of the Passion of our Lord at St. Peter™s Basilica:
By God™s grace, Frater Miguel, a Norbertine monk at St. Michael™s Abbey in Silverado, California, will be ordained to the priesthood on June 24. His fellow Norbertine Rev. Jacob (Joseph ™06) Hsieh, O.Praem., was blessed to chant the Exsultet at the 2015 papal Easter Vigil.
