Graduate Chants Role of Christ in Papal Good Friday Liturgy
A blessed trend in recent years is that alumni deacons who, while studying in Rome in preparation for their priestly ordinations have been asked to chant the Gospel at various papal liturgies. The latest graduate to be so honored is Frater Miguel (Gaspar08) Batres, O.Praem. On Good Friday, Frater Miguel proclaimed the words of Christ during the papal Celebration of the Passion of our Lord at St. Peter檚 Basilica:
By God檚 grace, Frater Miguel, a Norbertine monk at St. Michael檚 Abbey in Silverado, California, will be ordained to the priesthood on June 24. His fellow Norbertine Rev. Jacob (Joseph 06) Hsieh, O.Praem., was blessed to chant the Exsultet at the 2015 papal Easter Vigil.
